Lewd Conduct
Lewd Conduct
Lewd conduct is any unlawful act committed by an individual with the purpose of arousing the libido of themselves or the person towards which this act is directed. Conduct offenses generally involve pornography, prostitution, or indecent exposure. Another term for lewd conduct is lewd and lascivious behavior. Lewd conduct is considered a federal crime, but legal definitions differ from state to state.
Lewd conduct is considered a sex crime in most states and the charges associated with this offense vary according to the specific facts surrounding each individual case. If the offense involves two adults, the charge can be either a misdemeanor or a felony. However, if the offense involves a minor and an adult, the offender will most likely be charged with a felony which will result in a fine, incarceration, or other serious penalties. People who are convicted of lewd conduct with a minor must also register with their jurisdictions sex offender registry.
People who are repeat offenders will face harsher consequences. Potential punishments for a repeat case of lewd conduct are confinement to a mental hospital or involuntary psychological treatment.
