Police Arrest South Carolina Carjacker

Yesterday, police arrested a Greenville, South Carolina man who was accused of carjacking two victims at gunpoint.  One victim was carjacked in Greenville and the other in Ware Shoals.

The man, 18 year old Demetrius Dontello Maddox, is accused of carjacking two men at gunpoint and threatening them with a shotgun this past Tuesday.

Police responded to the incidents when the Ware Shoals police department received a call from a man who said he had been carjacked at gunpoint at a Burger King.  The victim, a 17 year old, claimed that a black man had came up to his car and had pointed a shotgun at him.  The victim said he was told to get into the passenger seat, but before the man could open the car door, the victim managed to get out and run away from the car into nearby woods.  When the victim found a house with lights on, he was allowed inside where he was able to phone police.

While the victim was being interviewed, police received a call from dispatch that informed them of another carjacking at a Citgo near the Burger King where the first incident occurred.

The second carjacking victim, a 19 year old, told police that he had been abducted from Greenville by a man with a shotgun.  His story matched that of the first victim.

At 8:00 AM, the police department reported finding the car that was stolen, a white Mitsubishi.  Shortly after, they arrested Maddox after they found a shotgun in the car.
