Police Closely Investigating Identity Theft Case in Michigan

Police are eagerly investigating a case of identity theft that was recently reported in West Michigan.  The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is taking every precaution necessary to find the suspect.

The complaint filed states that a person used the victim's personal information to withdraw thousands of dollars from the victims' bank account.  Withdrawals from the victim's account were made at several banks in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids and Muskegon Counties.

What is most surprising is that the victim resides in San Diego, California and has no connection what-so-ever to West Michigan.  Upon discovering the missing funds from her bank account, the victim decided to contact the Michigan police.  It is reported that the police do have a lead as a picture of the suspect was captured from a bank's security video.

Identity theft is defined as the crime of obtaining the personal or financial information of another person for the purpose of assuming that person's name to make transactions or purchases.

If apprehended, the suspect stands to face identity theft and grand theft charges, and may have to spend time in jail if convicted.
