Kansas City Woman Charged with Carjacking

In Jackson County, a woman was accused of carjacking and robbing a man.  Police allege that the woman committed the serious criminal offenses this past Thursday afternoon on Admiral Boulevard and Virginia Avenue.

According to reports, the victim was sitting in his car at approximately 2 PM.  While sitting, a woman approached the man's vehicle and told him that she needed money because she was hungry.  When the man did not give into the woman's request, she opened his car door.  She then took his money, threw the man out of his vehicle and then sped off with his car.

Police later found the man's car abandoned less than two blocks away from where the robbery had been committed.  They later tracked down and arrested 36 year old Celestria L. Gilyard.

At this time, Gilyard has been charged with second-degree robbery by Kansas City prosecutors.
