Boston Woman Charged with Murder after Killing Pregnant Woman

Boston, Massachusetts - This past Thursday, police in Boston report that they arrested a woman who is believed to have faked her own pregnancy.  The woman then allegedly killed her friend, who was pregnant, and cut her friend's fetus from her womb.

35 year old Julie Corey was charged with kidnapping after police found her in a homeless shelter with the four pound infant in New Hampshire back in July.  However, her charges were changed this past Thursday to murder and kidnapping after a Worcester county grand jury returned their indictments.

Police performed DNA tests on the infant, which proved that the baby had been cut from 23 year old Darlene Haynes.  At the time of the incident, Haynes was eight months pregnant.  She was killed inside of her own apartment in Worcester when the baby was cut from the womb.  She lived with her boyfriend who was also a friend of Julie Corey.

Prior to killing Haynes, Corey told her family and her boyfriend that she was pregnant.  On July 25th, she showed them the baby girl that had been taken from Haynes' body.  Later, Haynes was found in a closet wrapped in bedding.

The cause of death was determined by the state medical examiner to be "blunt force trauma, asphyxia by ligature strangulation and incision of abdomen."

According to reports, Corey is expected to plead not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges at her arraignment.  At this time, the date of the arraignment has not been set.
