30 People Arrested for Drug Crimes in Tennessee

In Sequatchie, Tennessee, law enforcement agencies scanned the state to find 40 people whose names were on a list for committing drug offenses.  Officers were eager to arrest the 40 individuals during their search.  Yesterday afternoon, 30 of the people on the list were found and brought into police custody.

The search commenced after a year-long investigation by detectives from Marion County, Chad Johnson and Gene Harris.  The investigators also received assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which led to the indictment of the 30 people who had committed  drug crimes like:  marijuana possession for sale, possession of methamphetamines, sale of prescription drugs and possession for sale of crack-cocaine.

Those that were arrested yesterday and the others who are still being sought are expected to face an array of felony drug possession and distribution charges.  Some may even face federal drug crime charges once investigations have been completed.

Ronnie "Bo" Burnett, a Marion County Sheriff, said that the searches "make a statement" and tell the community that law enforcement agencies in the state are making an effort to fight all drug crimes.

"The drug trade brings property crime and domestic crime," Sheriff Burnett said.

Marion County police remain confident that they will find the other individuals that are on the list of drug offenders.
