Vandalism Strikes Washington Country Club

For the second time this week, a golf course within Washington Country Club in the state of Washington was subjected to vandalism.  According to reports, the second case of vandalism occurred early Thursday morning.

In both instances, which occurred separately, the club's golf cart barn was broken into.  Normally, the cart barn is locked, but the offenders managed to sever the locks and steal golf carts.  The morning following the incident, the owners of the club discovered that the barn had been broken into and that 3 golf carts had been removed.  One of the carts was used to cause damage to the fifth green, which needed to be aerated and reseeded in order for it to be playable again.  The other two carts were found seriously damaged.

Club manager, Dave Baker, said, "It is really quite frustrating... The greens have been the best they have been in a long time."  He also went on to say that, "There is no reason for this."  He said that similar incidents of vandalism had occurred two years prior and that the greens had to be entirely resodded.

Washington Country Club President, Mike Chestnut, was particularly upset over the recent vandalism.  "It is just senseless. People have worked very hard to make this course nice for everyone and then someone does something like this. It is ridiculous," he said.

At this time, the Country Club is offering a $550 reward to anyone who has information that will lead to the arrest of the individuals who vandalized the private property.
