Alabama Man Charged with Multiple Counts of Rape

An Alabama man is facing multiple counts of felony rape after having sexual contact with a 15-year-old-girl.

Joel Wayne Davis, 24, faces three counts of second-degree rape, one count of child pornography, and one count of interfering with child custody.

Davis, who is now being held in DeKalb County Jail on $90,000 bond, allegedly met the girl through a family acquaintance.

Under Alabama law, second-degree rape, sometimes referred to statutory rape, is a Class B felony, which carries heavy penalties upon conviction, such as incarceration in state prison, large fines, restitution to the victim, and mandatory registration as a sex offender, possibly for life.
