Foster Dad Sentenced to 179 Years in Prison for Child Molestation

A San Diego man has been sentenced to 179 years in prison for molesting three boys who lived with him in a foster child capacity.

Steven Meredith Bimson, 65, was found guilty of multiple felony charges, including child molestation and oral copulation of a child.

Prosecutor Wendy Patrick Mazzarella argued that Bimson would take boys ages 12 to 15 who came from abusive families and unfortunate circumstances and bring them into his home. He would then molest them on a nightly basis.

Two of the victim's said they would share a bed with Bimson, and were molested every night around 10 p.m. until they reached a certain age.  A third victim said Bimson touched him in a sexual manner, but rejected further advances.

Mazzarella said the victims did not report the abuse because Bimson would give them money, buy them new clothes, and gave them a better life.

Police were eventually notified in 2006 after one of the victims learned that Bimson received a license for foster care.

Bimson's defense attorney said the allegations are not true, and that Bimson gave them a better life.
