Louisiana Insurance Agent Charged with Forgery

In Louisiana, a life insurance agent from Lake Forrest was ordered to stop working.  The man was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine after several complaints were filed against him by the state's insurance department.

According to news sources, 59 year old Steven Charles Rossiter was served with an order to cease and desist from selling life insurance by investigators on behalf of the Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud.  He was also served with a $1,000 fine notice.

The investigators say that Rossiter completed and submitted paperwork that was fraudulent to an insurance company.  In the paperwork, Rossiter requested that $9,000 be withdrawn from one of his client's life insurance policies.  After the check was sent to Rossiter, he forged his client's name and deposited the money in his own bank account.

Investigators also revealed that prior to his arrest, Rossiter had been conducting business without a valid license.  Rossiter had obtained a life, accident and health license in November 1996 and a variable contracts license in May 1997.  All of his licenses expired in April 2008.
