Maryland Police Launch Investigation for Kidnapping and Assault Case

This past weekend in Hartford County, Maryland, it is reported that a registered sex offender  and assaulted and kidnapped a female victim.  At this time, the crimes are being vigorously investigated by the Maryland State Police Department.

According to new sources, police were called right before midnight on Sunday because there had been an alleged assault at the 7-Eleven on Route 7.  When police arrived, they found a wounded woman who was 39 years old.  The woman, who was bruised and bleeding, told police officers that she was a passenger in 40 year old Paul Gerard Johnson Jr.'s vehicle.  She said that Johnson was from Bel Air and that he had been driving from Aberdeen to Edgewood.

When police questioned the woman, she said that Johnson refused to let her out of his car so she attempted to escape.  Instead of allowing her to leave the vehicle, Johnson threatened her with a large bladed knife.

The victim told police that when the pair arrived at the 7-Eleven, she tried to exit the vehicle for the second time.  That is when Johnson grabbed her by her clothing.  She was dragged in the road along the car for a short period of time before Johnson let her go, which caused her to be injured.

Police managed to find Johnson in the area of Route 22 and interstate 95.  However, before they were able to stop him, he led them on a brief chase.  Johnson was later arrested for kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
