Contractor Gets 7 Years for Hurricane Ike Theft Case

A man had been hired by a Galveston couple to do $1,800 worth of repair to their roof after it was damaged as a result of Hurricane Ike. It is reported that he never did the work and that he also had a history of this behavior after storms in Florida. The contractor had six convictions of contracting without a license in Florida as well. He has been sentenced to seven years for felony theft, as well as being convicted of grand theft. His defense attorney has announced the contractor will be eligible for parole after serving 25 percent of his sentence.
