MD Faces Sexual Assault Charges

A weight-loss doctor is being accused of sexual assault, by numerous female patients that sought his care and advice, as reported by local television and the Daily Mail.

Dr. A.O. allegedly touched his patients inappropriately during prescribed “fat burning” massages, offered them sex for its slimming benefits and orgasms to burn calories.

One patient reported that after Dr. A.O. groped her, and as she stormed out of his office, he said, “The visit is on the house because you’re so hot.”

Dr. A.O. offered the “massages” from his Pennsylvania weight control clinic.

Prosecutors claim to have testimony from at least six women that range in age from 24 to 59, alleging that Dr. A.O., 64, sexually assaulted them.

The women have claimed that Dr. A.O. asked them to remove their clothes before performing his “fat-busting” massages.  The massages involved both his hands and electronic devices.

Prosecutors claim that Dr. A.O. abused the sessions with the women for inappropriate reasons.

One woman alleges that Dr. A.O. told her she was receiving an “extra-special treat for losing all the weight” – and then proceeded to use a massager around her genital area.

Another victim alleged that before he assaulted her Dr. A.O. said, “If you need a man, I’m a man.”

In as early as 2008 Dr. A.O. allegedly surprised a woman by touching her genitalia and she rushed from his office.

Investigators discovered that the women, after having rebuffed Dr. A.O. and his inappropriate sexual advances, were still subjected to his assaults during their visits.

Dr. A.O. allegedly grabbed one woman’s breasts and told her she should keep their size and only reduce the weight in her stomach area.

Risa Vetri Ferman, the Montgomery County District Attorney, said, “A patient goes to a doctor for help. A patient looks to a doctor as someone that he or she can trust, and can trust with the exposing of the body.  So, for a woman to go to a doctor like this looking for help with weight loss, which is such a personal matter, and to then have the doctor touch her sexually, touch her inappropriately, and even try to kiss her and to make such personal comments, is really a complete betrayal of what the doctor is supposed to be doing.”

In September of 2010, when a “visibly upset” patient of Dr. A.O. told police that during an examination he had touched her inappropriately, and sexually assaulted her with a massaging device, they began investigating him.

Five more women then came forward with “eerily similar” allegations.

Police Detective John Storti III, in his arrest affidavit wrote, “Several women stated (Dr. A.O.) was unprofessional, inappropriate and ultimately made their visit uncomfortable.  Numerous patients mentioned (Dr. A.O.) touched them unnecessarily while physically examining them.”

Dr. A.O. has been charged with four counts of aggravated indecent assault and eight counts of indecent assault.   He has been released, after appearing before Judge Francis J. Bernhardt, on $100,000 bail.
