Hit and Run Is Fatal

Two teenage boys took an argument too seriously, leading to a fatal hit and run situation.

According to the Associated Press Cody C. Kalis, 17, got into an argument with 16-year-old Zachary Harp at a party.  This led to Kalis intentionally hitting Harp with his car and then fleeing the scene. The younger boy later died of his injuries. Now Kalis, who  is being charged as an adult, faces charges of manslaughter with a motor vehicle, operating while intoxicated with alcohol causing death and open murder.

As a result of their argument Kalis could now face a lifetime sentence in prison for the open murder charge. According to Tuscola County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Reene he could get 15 years each for the other felony charges.  His bond has been set at $75,000 cash surety/10 percent. However Reene has asked for the bond to be set at $100,000 with no ten percent option.  His family is expected to post his bond later this week.

If you've been charged with hit and run, don't wait to get help from a criminal defense attorney.
