Convoluted Case: Widower Allegedly Tries to Hire Hitman to Kill Hitman that He Also Hired to Kill Wife

Headlines may be confusing, but the fact is a man is facing solicitation of murder charges for trying to employ a new hitman to kill a former hitman that allegedly killed the man's wife, while the first hitman is currently in jail and facing first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, as reported by MSNBC and other media.

B.B. was seen on video taped surveillance attempting to solicit a man to kill another hired man he believes is responsible for the death of his wife, J.B. B.B. is also a person of interest in his wife's murder.

Prosecutors told reporters that they had arrested B.B. at a property he owned – that also housed a sex dungeon in its basement.

J.G. is the alleged hitman currently incarcerated and awaiting trial in the death of J.B.

Kym Worthy, the Wayne County prosecutor, told the media that they had evidence of meetings, that B.B. held between June 8 and June 25, for the sole purpose of paying someone to kill J.G.

J.G.'s trial is scheduled for July 23.

Worthy told reporters, "We are alleging that this defendant, Mr. (B.B.), met with another person, not a law enforcement official, on several occasions for the purpose of hatching a plan to kill Mr. (J.G.) in jail."

The new hitman that B.B. was attempting to hire, allegedly cooperated with police and agreed to be wired for an audio surveillance.

A second man is also to have been solicited by B.B. to kill J.G., according to Worthy.

In another turn, B.B. himself was considered a suspect in the murder of his wife –

he had failed an examination by polygraph – but has yet to be charged.

This past January J.B. was found strangled to death in her SUV. J.G. had been working for the couple as a handyman on different real estate deals.

B.B.'s attorney, David Griem, told reporters that B.B. contends that he was being set up and that he thinks he knows who was trying to get him arrested. Griem said, "He was shocked, he was surprised, he didn't know why he had been arrested." B.B. stated that it he was approached by a man more than once – and not the other way around – regarding a scheme to pay the man to kill J.G.

Susan Reed, the attorney representing J.G., said that once she learned there was a murder plot against her client she contact the authorities. Reed claimed not to know that B.B. was a suspect but later told reporters, "It makes sense."

J.G. has since been placed into a segregated cell to protect him while B.B. is on suicide watch in his cell.

B.B.'s bail amount has been set at $15 million.

Both men face life imprisonment if convicted.
