A mother with her 11-year-old daughter flagged down a police officer after an incident over concert souvenirs. The mother and daughter were walking down a Chicago street around 9:00 at night when they were reportedly attacked. The pair was carrying beach balls from the Lollapalooza music festival when they were approached by two young men. The men, both 19 years old, came up to the girl and her mother and demanded the balls. When they refused to hand them over, one of the teens threatened them verbally and then the other allegedly punched the little girl in the stomach. The two teens then ran off with the souvenir beach balls. The 11-year-old's mother was able to get the attention of an officer in a police cruiser and the suspects were promptly located and taken into custody. Don't hesitate to speak with a criminal defense lawyer as soon as you have been arrested or charged with any crime.

Teens Could Receive Serious Punishment for Assault and Battery Charges

The two adult teens were arrested and charged with several crimes which could have serious penalties if a conviction is obtained. The man that verbally threatened the girl and her mother was charged with misdemeanor assault while the second teen was charged with intoxication by a minor, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor battery. Both individuals could receive jail time, expensive fines, community service and other punishment.
