In South Carolina, controlled dangerous substances (CDS) are classified into five groups or "schedules." The most dangerous are Schedule I drugs, which are considered to be highly addictive and without any medical value. Under South Carolina, a controlled substance includes the drug, the substance, and immediate precursors.
