Police Arrest Driver After Second Accident

A licensed psychologist was released from her position by the San Angelo school board after it came to light that she had failed to report an arrest in August 2010.

The woman had been involved in two accidents over the course of one evening while driving on Interstate 20. The first report of a collision was made at 7:30 p.m., when her Chrysler sideswiped a Cadillac. Only minor damages were caused to the vehicle, and she stopped and talked to the driver of the Cadillac for a short while, though she drove off before a State Trooper could arrive at the scene.

Shortly after this incident, she collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, at which point a Highway patrolman was able to reach the crash scene and arrest her. She was found to be intoxicated and booked on charges of DWI. Police also found a small amount of hydrocodone in her possession.

Suspect Was ‘Combative’ With Police

While waiting at the local jail, the woman allegedly displayed what the officers reported as ‘combative’ behavior, eventually attacking a sergeant of the Palo Pinto County sheriff’s office and two state troopers. She was charged with assault of a public servant in addition to her DWI and possession counts.

The psychologist was eventually released on a $36,500 bond. She pled no contest in court and received 12 months probation, and was also levied several small fines.

Her failure to report this incident to the school board as required by district policy was used as justification for terminating her contract, as the board decided in a special meeting called shortly after learning of the incident.
