OC Medical Practitioner Arrested for the 2004 Murder of his Wife

The now 60-year-old respiratory therapist, M.G., had been charged in 2004 for a domestic violence incident involving his wife. His 55-year-old wife, A.G., had petitioned for and obtained a restraining order against her husband after he allegedly assaulted her. He subsequently moved out of the home he had been sharing with his wife and her 17-year-old son. A.G. reportedly intended to divorce M.G. A.G. later testified at a preliminary hearing that her husband had assaulted her. A few days later on September 24th, police and witness reports state that two men broke into the home while A.G. and her son were sleeping. The teen was bound and gagged and then shut into one of the closets in the home while a second suspect is thought to have killed A.G. using a sharp object of some sort. After the two suspects drove away from the house, the teen was able to free himself and dial 911. Police arrived and found A.G. dead.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, A.G.'s husband was recently arrested and charged with several serious offenses relating to the alleged murder of his wife in 2004. M.G. is currently being held without bail until his arraignment in mid March on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, false imprisonment and special circumstances murder. He also faces enhancements to these charges because he is suspected of murdering his wife to avoid the expense of a divorce, to prevent her from testifying against him on the domestic violence charges and to prevent losing his medical license. A.G. could receive the death penalty if found guilty of the charges against him. Minimum sentencing may include a life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
