Wanted Man Attempts to Elude Police, Found in Possession of Cocaine

By The Law Office of John J. Fox  Aug. 23, 2013 11:28a

A man wanted on felony warrants reportedly tried to elude sheriff's deputies in San Antonio recently. Deputies had spotted the man's car on Highway 90 at around 2:00 in the morning on a recent night when the chase began. The driver was wanted on seven felony warrants. The suspect refused to pull over and attempted to speed away from the deputies. The man turned off the highway and began speeding through a neighborhood near Nogalitos Street. He tried to get back to Highway 90 but additional units had been called to the scene by the pursuing deputies and he was forced to stop when deputies in a K-9 unit vehicle rammed the side of the man's car. Deputies took him into custody and conducted a search of his car where they reportedly found cocaine. Additional charges were brought against the unnamed suspect after the incident. Besides the seven felonies he was previously wanted for, charges of felony cocaine possession (possession of a large amount of cocaine) and felony evading police have been brought against him. Other narcotics in this category are heroin and methamphetamine. Even minimum sentencing for possession of fairly small amounts of a Penalty Group 1 drug can mean two years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
