Minor Arrested After Being Caught In Flagrante Delicto On Camera

The young child allegedly broke into a parked car in the parking lot of a Toys R Us store in South Florida, the Miami Herald reports.

According to the details of the report released by law enforcement officers regarding the incident, the arrest took place in the afternoon of Thursday, June 23rd. The beginning of the investigation actually was initiated the previous day, when according to authorities, a manager with the store noticed three young children attempting to open the doors of multiple vehicles parked outside the store. Watching them look into the windows of various cars, the manager left the building and chased the children off.

Contacting law enforcement, the manager described the situation, and police officers decided to set up an undercover operation to catch any further such minors engaged in attempted burglary.

Child Has Previous Criminal Record, Police Allege

The operation began that following Thursday, and undercover agents watched the parking lots to observe any returning criminal youths. At about 5:00 p.m., the patience of the police was rewarded when they witnessed a lone child breaking into a Dodge Caravan that had been locked and was sitting in the parking lot. The 11-year old boy was videotaped reaching inside the vehicle and removing cash that was left in the open. Shortly after catching this on camera, the boy was arrested and taken into police custody.

Though he is young, authorities told reporters with the Herald that the boy had a prior record of burglary. The name of the suspect has not been released, as he is a minor.
