Psychologist Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

By The Samuelson Law Firm  Jan. 18, 2013 11:22a

A Colorado Springs psychologist was arrested recently in connection to allegations that she had sex with a client. The young male client had been seeing the psychologist in mid 2011 for counseling concerning his tour of combat deployment in the armed services. He reported that the two began a sexual relationship in August which lasted for several months. The man also told police that the doctor, J.H., had told him several times to keep the fact that he was her client a secret. The woman was arrested on December 31st and charged with Class 4 felony sexual assault on a client by a psychotherapist. Police investigators have requested the public's help with any information regarding the case. Being charged with an assault crime can have many negative impacts on your reputation and your future. Felony Charges may Result in Severe Penalties

Felonies are classified into six classes, some of which have aggravating circumstances resulting in increased imprisonment or fines ("Extraordinary Risk Crimes"). A Class 6 felony is punishable by up to two years in prison and anywhere from $1,000 to $100,000 in fines. A Class 1 felony is the most harshly punished offense with penalties including life in prison or the death penalty. If the Class 4 felony charges against the psychologist in the above case hold then a conviction could mean 1 to 12 years imprisonment, up to $500,000 in fines, revocation of her practicing license as well as the possibility of other penalties specific to sexual assault charges.
