Former Police Officer on Trial for Charges of Rape of Wife and Girlfriend

By Tyler & Wilson, LLP  Mar. 14, 2013 4:09p

The defendant in the case, J.R., recently began his trial addressing a number of charges surrounding battery and abuse against the man's wife and a girlfriend. Both women have accused J.R. of stalking, false imprisonment, assault, battery and rape. The incidents allegedly happened in 2007 and 2008 but J.R.'s defense attorney insists that the women have teamed up and are lying about many of the events and the details. J.R. and his wife were married in 2003 and he says that the marriage began to fall apart a few years later. It was at that time that he began dating another woman while he and his wife were more or less estranged. Reports state that J.R. had an on-again-off-again relationship with both women which allegedly involved instances of both consensual sex and forced sexual assault. The women state that he would get very drunk and go out of control acting jealous and making threats and/or physically assaulting the wife and the girlfriend at times. Both women reported instances where J.R. allegedly arrived drunk and raped them, saying to each of them at the time, "I'm going to get you pregnant." The wife and girlfriend each say they did get pregnant and had abortions. J.R.'s wife did have one child with him in 2003. Make sure your rights are defended by getting the help of a domestic violence lawyer if you have been charged with any kind of domestic-related offense.

Ex-Police Officer Faces Felony Charges

J.R. was fired from the police department in 2010 and has been charged with several felony and misdemeanor offense counts. He could receive serious imprisonment and fines if found guilty of the charges which include vandalism, dissuading a witness by force, three counts of criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, two counts of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, forced sodomy, rape of a spouse and rape.
