NYC Cab Driver Booked on Assault Charges

By Hochheiser & Hochheiser LLP  Mar. 26, 2012 11:43a

A cabbie servicing the JFK airport got the help of a Port Authority police officer after being allegedly assaulted by a fellow cab driver. The driver, W.W., said a rival cabbie had attacked and beaten him when they were both filling up at a Queens gas station. The officer recognized the driver and recalled similar incidents which had happened between the two cabbies in the past. The officer’s partner was able to quickly pull up the report on a previous assault from 2010. Just as W.W. was speaking with the officer, the fellow cab driver in question, 53-year-old M.G., was spotted and flagged down. M.G. then alleged that it was not he that had assaulted W.W. but the other way around. The officer conducted a search of M.G. taxi discovering a machete in the trunk. M.G. was taken into custody under suspicion of criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and assault. Assault charges can result in serious penalties if a conviction is obtained so ensure you are protected by having the help of a New York City violent crimes lawyer working for you.
