Two Chicago Teens Charged with Misdemeanors

Police at a local high school football game had their hands full recently when the game had to be stopped because of reported shots fired in the stands. A large section of fans began running from the stands while the game was mid play and someone was heard yelling about shots being fired. No one heard the shots and no one was found to have fired a gun or receive a bullet injury. Police and game officials decided to put a stop to the game for the evening and rescheduled it for the following Sunday.

The charges against the two teens resulted when those attending the game were being ushered out of the stadium. One of the teens, a 14-year-old girl, was going against the flow of the crowd leaving the stadium and was told by an officer to turn around and go back the way she came along the walkway. She reportedly disregarded the officer's instructions and went into the street causing traffic to swerve and stop to avoid hitting her. Police say she also began making verbal threats to the officer. She was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault of an officer. A 16-year-old boy was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after allegedly refusing to disperse from the area and also walking in the street and disrupting traffic. About Juvenile Crime Cases

Law enforcement has been taking an increasingly hard stance when it comes to juvenile crimes. While these cases are not handled in the regular criminal courts and do not necessarily have the same type of penalties when it comes to punishment of an alleged offense, it is still crucial that you have the help of a knowledgeable defense lawyer. These cases are handled by the Juvenile Court system which generally seeks to use probation and rehabilitation when someone under 18 years old has been charged with a crime. In some cases, however, prosecutors may seek that the minor be dealt with as an adult and sent to the criminal courts.
