Theft Crimes
A theft crime is an illegal action which involves taking another's property against their will, without their knowledge or by using deceit. While some theft crimes are violent crimes, others are classified as white collar crimes. Typically, most fraud crimes are considered to be white collar crimes.
A theft crime may be classified as petty theft or grand theft. This classification will be dependent upon the value of property, goods or money which was taken. The penalties for a theft crime charge will depend not only upon what state/county has jurisdiction, but also upon the specific crime. For instance, such factors as the use of a weapon, or causing injury to another, may cause enhanced penalties to apply.
