Seth Boonie, a 17-year-old teen from Clyde was sentenced to three months in jail, house arrest with electronic monitoring and 200 hours of community service after vandalizing grave sites at McPherson Cemetery. On September 9th, Boonie appeared in juvenile court on a charge of fourth-degree vandalism, to which he admitted being guilty of.

The damage to the cemetery was extensive, one person remarked how it looked as if a hurricane had gone through the property. News of the damage struck the community; people who had lost their loved ones were seen, breaking down into tears at the sight of the destruction. The City of Clyde has taken measures to repair some of the older tombstones with pins and an epoxy adhesive, however authorities haven't yet released an exact dollar figure to the extent of the damage. When authorities asked the boy why he had done it, Boonie said he had no reason, he just did it.

A part of Seth's 200 hours of community service, consists of doing research and giving presentations on the loved ones buried at the cemetery. Juvenile Judge Brad Smith hopes that his sentence will give him a hope for a bright future and will prevent him from being a trouble to the community again. The boy had voluntarily turned himself in; the Judge took that into consideration when determining his sentencing.
