Father Sentenced to Prison for Murder of Two-Year-Old Son

A 28-year-old Moreno Valley father was given a prison sentence this past Friday of twenty-five years to life for the murder of his two-year-old son. He was originally arrested in April of last year when his son was brought in to the Riverside County regional Medical Center not breathing with a massive blood clot on his brain. The boy died several days later.

During the father's trial, the Deputy District Attorney stated that the boy suffered a fatal injury at the hands of his father who had apparently flown into a rage while changing the boy's diaper. The father claimed that the boy fell off of a two foot bed and hit his head while he was changing the diaper. A video shown to juror during the trial depicted the father making a statement to the police that he didn't do it hard, that was just what happened. The father was convicted of second degree murder.

Previous Signs of Abuse

The father changed his story several times during the trial and it was noted that the mother who had legal custody of the boy had previously accused the father of domestic abuse. She continued to allow him visitation rights as it was in the court order that he be allowed to do so. Her concerns for her son were such, that before she allowed her son to visit this last time, she took a photo of him for documentation just in case he came back with bruises.
