Washington Man Sentenced for Arson Conviction

In Chehalis, Washington a man has been sentenced to 6 months jail time after being convicted of arson.  According to reports, the man was responsible for a house fire in Winlock that left his own daughter severely burned.

The man, 55 year old Sang Hee Bae, admitted to the Lewis County Superior Court on November 6th that he was in fact responsible for the fire.  He was then found guilty of second-degree arson.

Bae would have faced harsher charges and sentencing, but prosecutors report that his daughter was not compliant throughout the investigation, which made it difficult to pursue a tougher course of legal action.

Police claim that the family planned to burn down the house to collect insurance money.  They burned down the house in 2005, and the daughter sustained burns over 30% of her body when the gasoline fumes ignited before expected.

The daughter's husband had already pleaded guilty to arson back in 2005 for his role in the crime and was sentenced to 17 months in a local prison.
