Four Teens Face Felony Charges for Throwing Eggs

Four Oklahoma teens are facing felony charges for what they thought was just a prank.

The teens were taken to the Pottowatomie County jail after they were arrested for throwing eggs at cars.

"They think throwing eggs is a prank, but if you damage the paint on a car how many people in this day and age can afford a paint job?" said Shawnee Police Chief Russell Frantz.

Under Oklahoma law, it's illegal to throw or drop any object at or from a moving vehicle, even an egg.

Each teen now faces two felony charges. If convicted, they could face up to 10 years in prison or fines up to $10,000.

Robert Butler, the defense attorney representing the teens, thinks the charges are excessive.

"It's youthful behavior. It's immature and that's what caused this and I'm certain we will try and get this reduced to a misdemeanor," he said.

Regardless of whether or not the teens' actions were just a prank, Chief Frantz stands by his position that they must be held responsible for their actions.
