Trial Starts Against Anna Nicole Smith's Boyfriend and Doctors

In a Los Angeles courtroom this past week, a prosecutor told jurors that model and actress Anna Nicole Smith was supplied with narcotics with the help of two doctors and her boyfriend, lawyer Howard K. Stern.

Smith's boyfriend, personal physician Sandeep Kappor (41) and psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich (61) are facing numerous felony charges in what has been a long awaited trial that started this week.

During opening statements, the prosecutor Renee Rose told the jury that Stern helped get drugs for Anna Nicole Smith in the legal ways.  She also alleged that the doctors "prescribed powerful and addictive medications without treating an underlying addiction".

If they are convicted, the defendants face up to five years in prison for unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance to an addict, obtaining a prescription by deceit, fraud and conspiracy. They have all pled not guilty to their charges.

If you have been charged with a serious felony, now is the time to get a criminal defense attorney involved.
