30 Pounds of Pot Stuffed in Jesus Pictures Seized by Border Patrol

A woman from Juarez, Mexico was arrested at the Texas/Mexico border after border patrol officers found 30 pounds of marijuana hidden instead framed artwork of Jesus Christ.

According to William Molaski, port director of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency’s office in El Paso, this is not the first time drug smugglers have used religious objects to try and smuggle drugs into the U.S.

The arrest took place Tuesday. The woman told the border patrol officers that she had nothing to declare since all she had with her was framed artwork. The officers decided to check out the vehicle with the help of a drug-sniffing dog, who alerted them to the pictures.

When they pulled off the pictures, the officers found bundles of pot—30 pounds worth to be exact.

The woman was one of three people arrested for marijuana smuggling that day, and by the end of the day border patrol officials had seized 214 pounds of pot.
