Man Charged for Toddler's Death in L.A.

In L.A., local authorities have placed the 21-year-old man under arrest and charged him for the death of a toddler.

Recently, police officers responded to a call of a girl not breathing in an unincorporated Westmont area.  According to police officers, the 2 1/2 year-old girl, Erica Johnson, lived with her grandmother.  Also living in the residence were a 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old male.

At this time, the victim's 19-year-old mother remains in police custody because she was arrested last week for a non-related criminal offense.  Erica's father is in police custody in another state.

The grandmother told officers that the 21-year-old suspect, her daughter's boyfriend, started banging on her bedroom door at approximately 11 PM.  He told her that because there was no longer breathing and they dialed 911.

On Thursday afternoon, detectives ruled the death a homicide.  The 21-year-old was then arrested and booked on criminal charges.

If you have been charged with a crime like murder, it is imperative that you hire a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.
