Former City Administrator Faces White Collar Charges

Already facing charges of public corruption and misappropriation of funds, a former city administrator and his ex-assistant are being slapped with more charges of white collar crimes.

As for the former assistant, she is being charged with misappropriation of funds for her excessive benefits and compensation. In addition, she now has three counts of conflict of interest for drafting up her own employment contracts in which she asked for $375,000 annually. This is more than most city administrators make, not to mention assistants.

The former administrator has been charged with giving out more than $2 million in loans from the city treasury that he was not authorized to give. These included multiple loans of $80,000 to himself and three loans equaling $300,000 to his assistant. She is believed to have used this money to buy property. Overall the administrator is facing 50 felony charges; however, he isn't the only one accused of white collar crimes as six more individuals were arrested earlier in connection to the fraud scheme.

If you're facing serious criminal charges, now is the time to hire a criminal defense lawyer near you.
