New Molestation Allegations Surface in the Zimmerman Murder Case

A woman from Orlando has recently come forth in the Zimmerman murder case to claim that she was sexually molested by the suspect as a child. Zimmerman is currently involved in a high-profile second-degree murder case, after he shot and killed a teenager named Trayvon Martin as the youth walked home from work. The case is one that deals with racial profiling, which is part of the reason that it is become heavily covered by the media.

While Zimmerman’s case has focused on whether or not his intentions to shot and kill Trayvon Martin were hate crime, a new aspect of his early life is coming to light. The woman who recently confessed her victimized state to the police says that her parents were close to the Zimmerman family. She was molested by him as a child. She claims that she kept the crime a secret out of fear, but now that he is incarcerated, she does not feel she needs to be afraid anymore.

According to The New York Times, it is still unclear how these new allegations will factor into the case, but they certainly reveal an added aspect of Zimmerman’s character. The defense lawyer tried to postpone release of the witness’ confession, saying that the information was prejudiced and irrelevant to the murder. However, the prosecution was still granted permission to expose the crime. They also released another tape where witnesses said that Zimmerman was known for expressing his racism against African Americans.

The witness who claims she was once Zimmerman’s victim is only two years younger than him, and says that he first abused her sexually when she was only 6. He was 8-years-old. The abuse allegedly went on until the victim was approximately 12. She says that her family visited with the Zimmermans every year and every year it was the same. Sexual abuse is a relative crime that is often evaluated on a “he-said she-said” basis. If you have been accused of this offense, we know that you might be innocent.
