Father Could be Charged with Child Endangerment

By Law Office of John Harvell  Jan. 23, 2012 4:17p

The mother of a 6-year-old boy was frantic after the boy's father took him away from a residence he shared with his girlfriend on a recent evening. The 6-year-old's father, A.W., had gotten into a heated argument with his girlfriend that evening. The girlfriend became concerned about the boy's well being after A.W. made comments during their fight about physically harming himself. A.W. took the boy with him when he abruptly left the residence and drove off in his red four-door sedan. She contacted authorities and reported the incident in an effort to protect the boy against possible harm. Have you been charged with a crime in Johnson County or surrounding area? Speak with an Olathe criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible to get your questions answered and to find out more about your legal options.

The search for the father and son began soon after the father's girlfriend contacted local police. As the matter involved a missing child, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) also entered in the search effort. Police and the KBI enlisted the help of the public through local TV news channels and other resources. A.W. and his son were found the next morning at a location near the Kansas City International Airport. Both father and son were reported as being in good health. Authorities did not state whether or not criminal charges of child endangerment were to be brought against the man.
