The law states that the small amount of this drug possessed by an individual will be considered a civil violation (rather than a misdemeanor) punishable by a $150 fine. If, however, a person receives three violations within an 18-month period then they will be charged with a misdemeanor. At that point, the individual could be facing much more expensive fines as well as jail time.
