Sexual Offender Arrested for Murder

The Star Telegram in Fort Worth has reported that a wanted criminal, that murdered another man to fake his own death, had a 1987 sexual assault conviction, a 2007 lawsuit filed against him for sexual abuse and a current allegation of sexual assault.

In the latter case the family pressed charges alleging that their 77 year-old family member, a woman stricken with Alzheimer’s, was sexually abused by M.A.G. while she resided at a Colleyville assisted-living facility.

The case was ultimately dropped when medical tests failed to find physical evidence of the assault.  The family filed the suit because the company that hired M.A.G. as a caretaker didn’t look into his record to see that he had been convicted in 1987 for sexual assault.

M.A.G was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the 1987 conviction.

Brandon Boehme, the family’s attorney, said the settlement, reached in 2009, could not be disclosed due to a confidentiality agreement.

After a seven-hour standoff with police, M.A.G. was apprehended on April 5.  He is currently in a hospital for a cut to the neck – that he inflicted himself.

Officers served him a warrant for sexually assaulting a teenaged relative, a warrant for failure to register his address as a repeat offender and, by April 6, a warrant for capital murder.

Police allege that M.A.G. concocted a scheme, to avoid arrest in the sexual assault case, by shooting a man to death, putting his body in the trunk of his car and then setting the car in fire.

He hoped that police would believe that the dead man’s body was his own.

In an evidence search by homicide investigators, officers and academy recruits, of a grass-filled field near Interstate 30 and Cherry Lane, homicide Sgt. Cheryl Johnson said, “We found what we were looking for.”

Fort Worth firefighters also searched Lake Worth by boat for further evidence.

Authorities believe that the murdered man that they found was homeless and have yet to identify him.

This is the second time – the first was in 2002 in Mississippi – that M.A.G. has been accused of murdering a man to fake his own death.

In the elder abuse case Boehme said, “She said a black male had come into her room and had touched her inappropriately, putting his hand up underneath her nightgown.” But because she couldn’t identify the male resident “they started thinking maybe this was just a figment of her imagination.”

When an employee recalled that M.A.G. was there the night she said someone “raped me” a photograph of him was shown to the woman.

Boehme said of her response, “She literally just came our of her skin.”

Boehme described M.A.G. as “very smooth and very cold and calculated. He was not intimidated by the legal process whatsoever.  This was all just incredulous to him about how this could have happened. He had explanations for everything.”
