Four Men Charged In Connection With A Boise Robbery Last August

After a tip from the Crime Stoppers hot line aided investigators in a robbery case, police arrested four suspects who are believed to be responsible for the deed.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred a month ago in early August. According to documents filed in the Canyon County court, the robbery took place at around 2:25 a.m. in the early morning hours of August 9th. Several residents of an apartment on the 400 block of Main Street told police that they were awoken by four men, their features hidden by ski masks, breaking down the front door and entering the apartment holding handguns.

Speaking to reporters, a lieutenant with the Boise County Police Department said that the four assailants allegedly held at least two of the residents at gunpoint, taking several possessions as well as money from the apartment before making their exit. Although none of the residents were harmed during the robbery, one of the suspects fired a round from his pistol, discharging his firearm into a television within the apartment.

Investigation Receives Help Via Crime Stoppers Tip Hotline

According to detectives working the case, a major breakthrough came in when Crime Stoppers reported information about the only solid lead law enforcement had, regarding the robbers' getaway vehicle. In late August, after releasing a description of the automobile, a late 90s or early 2000s Ford Explorer SUV with a broken rear brake light, detectives received several tips that clued them into the possible owners of the vehicle.

This information eventually led police to arrest four men alleged to have been the robbers. The suspects, two 21-year olds, a 27-year old, and a 31-year old, were arrested in Canyon County at four different locales. All have been charged with burglary, robbery, and illegal discharge of a firearm.

Authorities have not commented on the amount of money or property stolen in the robbery. They do not believe the victims had any prior relationship to the alleged criminals, but do have evidence that the incident was carefully planned and premeditated.

In the state of Idaho, the maximum sentence faced for robbery is up to life in prison.
