Just in from BizJounral.com, a Phoenix woman named Norma Elena Escobar was convicted of identity theft, a crime that is currently on the rise in the United States.  Escobar was sentenced with 6 years imprisonment and $11,180 in fines and restitution.  The case and sentencing took place in the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Escobar pleaded guilty to one count of theft, considered a class 3 felony, on July 22, 2008.  From the years of 2002 - 2003, Norma Elena Escobar obtained a credit card from an individual and used the individual's credit card to fraudulently purchase over $4,000 in merchandise.
