Police Save Two Females in Domestic Violence Incident

Domestic violence carries harsh penalties in the state of California and can have lasting negative effects on a person's life if they are convicted of this crime.  In California, there is even a special department set up in the District Attorney's Office specifically for domestic violence cases.

A Recent Local Example

Long Beach Police officers responded to an emergency call earlier this month when a sixteen year old girl had called 911 saying that her father was inside of their house and had shot her and her mother. Police arrived at the residence in less than two minutes. When they arrived, the wounded girl who had been shot in the leg and ran out of the house telling the officers that her mother was still in the house along with her father who was still armed.

Police had to make a quick but dangerous decision whether to go in or not, knowing the suspect was armed and dangerous; they decided to go in and save the mother, fearing for her life. The 37 year old mother also had been shot in the leg and lay on the floor bleeding on the kitchen while the suspect ran into the bedroom. Police arrested him on charges ofattempted murder,  assault with a deadly weapon,  spousal abuse as well as other charges. Two handguns and a kitchen knife were taken from  the residence as evidence. Three minors and a grandmother were also found in the house, but were unharmed.
