Inmate Hides Gun Under Flabs of Fat

A Texas inmate weighing more than 500 pounds is facing criminal charges after he brought a pistol into both city and county jail by hiding it under flabs of his own skin.

According to Police spokesman Victor Senties, George Vera was repeatedly searched by police personnel: once at the time of arrest, again when he arrived at the city jail, and a final time before he was transferred to the Harris County jail.  The pistol remained undetected until Vera admitted to a county guard that he had smuggled the weapon into the facility.

Vera, who is now facing felony charges for possession of a firearm in a correctional facility, was originally charged with possessing/selling unlabeled copies of compact discs.  He was arrested when police spotted him selling bootlegged copies of CDs out of the back of his SUV.

If convicted, Vera could face up to 10 years in prison for each of the charges, totaling 20 years in prison.
