Woman Caught DWI with Kids in Minivan

Drinking and driving are never a good idea, especially when you are transporting five young children in a minivan.

One woman learned this the hard way when police charged her with driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car on Highway 52. Inside were five children, one aged just 3 months old. Kyra Larae Lindsey crashed into a guard rail around 3 a.m. on Monday, causing minor injuries to four of the five children inside. When the arresting officer asked Lindsey if she had been drinking she answered that she had had "one" drink four hours earlier.

Minnesota law is especially stringent on drunk drivers that have children present in the vehicle. When Lindsey appeared in Dakota County court last week she was charged with one count of child endangerment, four counts of criminal vehicular operation, and one count of 3rd degree driving while impaired. She is scheduled to appear again in court on April 4th.

Have you been charged with DWI?  If so, now is the time to consult with a criminal defense lawyer in your state of residence.
