Man to Stand Trial for DUI and Child Endangerment Charges

One man is lucky not to have killed himself or his young nephew in a drunk-driving motorcycle accident. The two were brought to a local hospital after the accident with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, 39-year-old J.I., was riding his motorcycle last year in western Pennsylvania with his 4-year-old nephew. The little boy was riding on the gas tank when they collided with a guard rail. Both the man and the boy were thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway. He was found to have a blood -alcohol level of 0.18. Months later and J.I. still uses a cane to walk. His nephew suffered injuries to his liver, spleen and lungs, as well as several broken ribs.

He has been ordered to stand trial on charges of DUI and child endangerment later this month. The suspect waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week, prompting the judge to set a trial date sooner than expected. Arrested for DUI? Now is the right time to get an experienced criminal defense lawyer in your area involved in your case.
